Fall Days

Fall days are upon us once again. As we look at our rapidly changing landscape we are reminded of our ancestral connection to the land. The vivid reds and brilliant mustard and orange colored leaves have begun to make their seasonal appearances. Pausing a moment to take in our magnificent surroundings one cannot help feeling swept up by the wonder of it all.
Our days are still holding onto vestiges of the summer just past but the morning and evening air now has a distinct not altogether unwelcome chill. The first rains of more than two weeks fell Saturday and again on Sunday; it felt refreshing. The passage of the rain has left us with pleasant but somewhat cooler temperatures. One has to wonder if we have now begun the slide into much cooler fall and winter weather.
ECO1NEST is almost ready to introduce our all new wine bottle holder. It should be a handsome addition to the dinner table and will be able to accommodate either a regular bottle or a magnum. Soon we will have photos of it up on the website. We are also just about ready to introduce our new line of wood candle holders. They will initially be offered in two sizes, 4 inch and 3 inch. We plan to have pictures of them available on the website soon as well.
The season continues at the Westford Farmers Market where we have been regulars this summer and fall. The market will continue until Friday the 16th of October which will be the last day of the 2009 season. If you have not yet made it our to a Friday market come on out; the days are still nice, we still have an average of twenty vendors offering everything from farm fresh veggies to organic local beef to fresh hot Asian food, local homey, fresh roasted coffee and sweets and a good deal more including yours truly & company. There will continue to be live music at the markets so come on out, you don't want to miss out, it's a regular party. ECO1NEST will be there every Friday until the market closes for the season offering our wise wood widgets, our world famous maple cookies and if the weather holds warm enough fresh honey lemonade. See you there.

Summer wanes

The days are growing shorter and somehow there is the barest hint of fall in the air. We even see the odd leaf on the ground already turned mustard and red colors. To be sure it is still fairly warm with today being in the mid to even upper seventies but the wind! Yeah, the blustery winds of fall seem to be gathering. The garden is in full explosion with a bumper crop of corn, beets, peppers, potatoes, carrots and so on. For that we can be quite thankful.
ECO1NEST went to the San Francisco International Gift Fair and in fact just today we finally managed to get caught up with the orders taken at the show. While we did not made a bundle, we at least generated some sales and some interest that will hopefully translate into sales. Due to customer requests we have decided to develop several new products including a wine caddy, a candle holder and even some wind chimes.
This fall in fact coming soon we will be attending several area shows. The first one will be the Made in Vermont craft fair in Bradford on the 12th of September. It looks to be a busy fall season and for that we will indeed count our blessings.

Mid summer days

I have not had any new updates for awhile due to an injury that occurred a couple of weeks ago. Monday afternoon two weeks ago today I was hurrying about getting an ECO1NEST order ready for shipment. I realized I needed some additional wood and went up into the shop attic to gather it up. I placed the selected boards by the opening and then swiftly lowered my legs toward the top step of the ladder. In an instant of utter disbelief my right foot slipped off the step and I was airborne. Thrashing about wildly for any kind of purchase and in an attempt to keep my head out of harms way I bounced off the back wall struck the top of the ladder and then somehow turned nearly 180 degrees and landed on top of the chop saw on my right hip. My pants were snagged on the saw blade cover and I had some difficulty stepping onto the floor. In a strangled voice I told Marnie, "I'm OK." However I knew that I was really not OK and in fact something seemed to be seriously wrong with my left upper arm. After a few minutes the pain became intense. A trip to the emergency room was in order. Once there they administered pain killers and and after x-rays found the shoulder to be dis-located they gave me another fast acting sleep drug. They then were able to put my shoulder back in it's rightful place. Thanks to Homeopathy I am much further along the road to recovery than most would be after such an injury. I can't say enough about the healing properties it offers. Today I am probably back to about 65% of normal strength and mobility in my left arm and getting better each day. Ask about Homeopathy if you are bothered by an injury a sickness or a condition, mental or physical because in reality everything is connected.
ECO1NEST has enjoyed robust sales at the Westford Farmers Market the past two weeks and our Maple cookies sold out last Friday. If you have not yet made it there come on out this Friday. The quality of food you will find is unsurpassed by any local grocery store. In addition the market also has to offer cooked foods such as cooked to order hamburgers and delicious fresh organic Asian food. The hamburger come from cows that were raised on an organic farm. You simply can't find a better burger. Last Friday the weather finally gave us a break and I am trusting that it will do so again the week. See you on the green.
